The Mekong connects cities, market towns, farming communities, temples, islands, and border regions across Southeast Asia. The river is not background scenery. It is the route.
Use the live comparison below to review dates, ships, prices, and remaining spaces. Lower Mekong journeys connect Vietnam and Cambodia, often through Chau Doc, Phnom Penh, and Tonle Sap. Upper Mekong routes move through Laos and Thailand toward Luang Prabang. These are different journeys. Compare the map before the cabin.
We are independent advisors. Ask us which direction, season, vessel, and duration fit the way you want to travel.
On the lower Mekong, a small ship such as Aqua Mekong provides a comfortable base while skiffs handle markets, villages, workshops, temples, and narrow channels. On the upper river, smaller vessels negotiate locks, changing water levels, and long reaches between towns.
Expect heat, early starts, uneven landings, and itinerary changes when water conditions require them. Choose this river if you want local life, food, history, and movement between countries. It is less suitable if the ship itself is meant to be the holiday.
High water and low water produce different itineraries. Some high-water departures cross Tonle Sap by water; lower-water routes use a different Cambodian section and may involve longer road transfers. Direction also matters because border timing, daily visits, and arrival cities change.
Compare Vietnam river cruises with Cambodia river cruises, then check the exact inclusions and transfer plan. If only a few cabins remain, a no-obligation booking can hold space while you confirm the details.
