Rivertours is built around small-ship river travel. The exact scale varies: a hotel barge may carry fewer than 20 guests, an Amazon expedition vessel around 20 to 40, and a regional river ship more. What matters is how the vessel changes access, group size, and time in the destination.
Use the live list below to compare all current journeys. Then check the passenger count, cabin layout, stairs, tender or skiff use, docking, daily pace, and time ashore.
For two especially intimate French examples, compare ten-passenger Canal du Midi cruises with 12-passenger Burgundy cruises. If comfort level is the main question, compare Luxury River Cruises. If duration matters, see Short River Cruises.
Small ships also open very different geographies. Compare Australia river cruises on the Murray, wildlife-focused Chobe River cruises in Botswana, and Magdalena River cruises in Colombia. In Asia, explore Thailand river cruises; in Europe, compare small-ship cruises in Scotland.

Fewer guests changes the day
A smaller group can leave a dock, enter a market, cycle, or sit down for a local meal without turning the visit into crowd management. It does not guarantee authenticity by itself. The route and guiding still matter.
Ask how many guests travel together off the ship, not only how many cabins the vessel has.

Small vessels have real limitations
Cabins can be compact. Stairs may be steep. Elevators and large wellness areas are uncommon. Some landings use skiffs, gangways, muddy banks, or uneven paths.
Choose a small ship if access and local depth matter more than entertainment and facilities. If you want a floating resort, another operator may suit you better.
