Agua Marina is the Amazon ship we get excited about: small, practical, comfortable, and built around what happens off the vessel. She carries just 28 guests in 14 cabins, so the days feel personal and flexible, with two English-speaking naturalist guides, an 18-person crew, three skiffs, and kayaks for quiet water when conditions allow. Cabins are air-conditioned and river-facing, with private bathrooms, hot showers, minibar, and flexible double or twin bedding; the two Master Suites and two Presidential Suites add extra space, and the Presidential Suites have a small private balcony.
The ship has a dining room, lounge and bar, observation deck with Jacuzzi, plus a small gym and massage room. These comforts matter after humid, active Amazon days, but they are not the reason to come. The reason is access: Pacaya-Samiria creeks, flooded forest, night walks, piranha fishing, community visits, birdlife, monkeys, sloths, and the Maranon-Ucayali region where dolphins are often seen.
Most trips begin in Iquitos with a roughly two-hour road transfer to Nauta. Water levels shape the route, so flexibility is part of the experience. Choose Agua Marina for serious Amazon travel with comfort, strong guiding and a small group. Do not choose it for formal luxury, multiple restaurants, elevators, nightlife or a ship-first holiday.

The food on board Agua Marina is genuinely memorable: fresh, generous and unmistakably Peruvian Amazon. Expect chef-prepared meals with regional ingredients, colorful fruit juices, water throughout the day and a glass of house wine with lunch and dinner on published programs. It is not a big buffet ship. It feels more personal: good cooking after real days in the forest.
Agua Marina's sustainability strength is scale and setting. With just 28 guests, naturalist-led excursions, kayaks where conditions allow, reserve entrance fees included on published programs and visits to native communities, the trip supports a more careful way into Pacaya-Samiria. We do not call this a low-emission ship. We call it small, guided and respectful access to a protected Amazon reserve.
